A woman, face disfigured at birth, seeks a legendary creature called the Squonk, believing one touch will grant her eternal beauty. She must find it before a ruthless game hunter gets to it first.

FILMING ON LOCATION

As a child, I was fascinated by fairy tales, mythology and secret worlds.

I found that using my imagination to evoke images of the characters and creatures was a way to escape into magical places where I was free to explore.

Now as an adult, any chance I get to show these magical worlds on screen is a blessing, as is bringing the Squonk to life. 

I hope the audience finds empathy, hope, frustration and catharsis through Dottie’s journey and is left asking the question of who the Fearsome Creatures actually are…

Creature Designer Terryl Whitlatch is a Creature designer specializing in Animal Anatomy, and the creation of Imaginary Creatures for Publishing, Academic, and Entertainment clients that includes Lucasfilm, LTD., Industrial Light & Magic, Walt Disney Feature Animation, Walt Disney Imagineering, Electronic Arts (EA), Paramount Pictures, Sony, and many more.

Screenwriter/producer Andy Silverman recently completed a successful festival run with his latest supernatural thriller SECLUSION (2023). His other credits, streaming on multiple platforms, include the creature-feature horror comedy CYST (2022), the western noir TEXAS COTTON (2018), and the award-winning comedy web series BUCKLE UP (2017).

Producer Laurie Ashbourne started with Walt Disney Feature Animation; a writer-producer with over 30 produced credits and many in various stages of production, including an animated feature with the director of MULAN, 10-31 with acclaimed producers Eli Roth and Roger Birnbaum, and a Christmas feature now in global release (2023). Her recent documentary work includes SUPPRESSED - the fight to vote (2020), and RACIALLY CHARGED (2021), featuring Mahershala Ali. In 2024 she launched a slate of films that will utilize the impact investment model she wrote about in her new book, Values; Rethinking Hollywood Film Investment for Maximum ROI & Impact.
